Operations

A Visual Inspector within the operations team is responsible for ensuring product quality and consistency through detailed visual examination. The Visual Inspector helps maintain high operational standards, supports continuous improvement efforts, and ensures that only products meeting quality requirements proceed through the production process or reach our customers.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Approving incoming materials to Customer & Internal specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; rejecting and returning unacceptable materials.
  • Approve in-process production as required by conducting visual and measurement tests.
  • Approve finished products to Customer specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; returning products for re-work; confirming re-work.
  • Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and waste; inputting data into quality database.
  • Keeps measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions, calling for repairs where necessary.
  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations.
  • Liaise with the Quality Manager to maintain accurate data cards.
  • Drives 5S initiatives within the department.
  • Support root cause and corrective actions identified through the audit process including other tasks identified through business improvements.
  • Any other duties deemed suitable by your line manager and as reasonably required by the business.

EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Have a good working knowledge of relevant product manufacturing and inspection technology.
  • Minimum 5 years work experience.
  • Computer literate.
  • Working experience, knowledge and understanding of aerospace products / capabilities and a familiarity with industry vernacular.
  • Technical knowledge & experience within the aerospace & energy sector preferred.
  • Well-versed in techniques associated with Six Sigma Quality Tools.
  • Experience within an Aerospace / IGT Manufacturing environment.
  • Have a good working knowledge of relevant product manufacturing.

SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes including EDM, surface grinding, brazing, welding, thermal barrier coating (TBC) and heat treatment.
  • Highly self-motivated with ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Laboratory and practical engineering skills.
  • Internal Auditor qualified – desirable.
  • Have a keen eye for detail.
  • Safety conscious and aware and able to identify hazard.
